Furry Helpers

“Founded in 1975, Canine Companions for Independence® is a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs and ongoing support to ensure quality partnerships.”

Service animals are known for helping their owners who have impaired vision, hearing, or limited mobility. But research suggests that there are many benefits for service animals in the psychiatric realm, for instance: children and adults with special needs, mental disorders, and PTSD. For this reason, Canine Companions is passionate about rescuing and training dogs and providing their owners with a life of meaning and dignity.

Canine Companions trains four types of assistance animals:

  • Physical Disabilities
  • Hearing Impairement
  • Facility Dogs – Special needs, education, health care setting, criminal justice
  • Developmental and Cognitive disabilities

We invite our friends, neighbors, and dear clients to take part in providing a furry helper to those that need it most.
